OUR FICK FAMILY
From the Isle of
Man to Canada
About 1750 Johann Heinrich Fick and his son Daniel left Lubeck, Germany and
settled on the tranquil little Isle of Man, in the middle of the Irish Sea.
In 1906, 27 year old William Fick, a 7th generation descendant of Johann
Heinrich, sailed away from the Isle of Man to start a new life in Canada. He
was joined three months later by his wife Harriet and daughter Nellie, and
within the next 10 years his parents and most of his siblings and their
families followed. Many of these families settled in Toronto, Ontario, but
their descendants, now into the 12th generation, are spread across North
America It is to the living descendants of all branches of this Fick family
that these pages are dedicated.
